Penny Stroud is CEO and founder of MD Ranger, Inc. She founded the company with Michael Heil and Craig Paxton to address the lack of high-quality physician compensation data available to health care providers.
Prior to MD Ranger, Penny also founded Cattaneo & Stroud, Inc., a health care consultancy specializing in strategic business planning for hospitals, health systems, and other providers. She has analyzed hundreds of physician contracts and has written as many physician fair market value opinions for clients. She has consulted for more than 30 years, and holds a masters degree in Health Administration and Planning from The Johns Hopkins University and a bachelor of arts degree from Stanford University. She is a member of the Society of Professionals in Healthcare, MGMA, the California Healthcare Association, and Women Health Care Executives.
Michael Heil, CVA
Michael Heil is EVP and founder of MD Ranger. Prior to MD Ranger, he founded consulting firm HealthWorks, Inc., where he specializes in fair market value analysis and management consulting for hospitals and health care providers. Michael has 35 years of experience in health care management and consulting. He has served as president of California Shock/Trauma Air Rescue (CALSTAR) and in management engineering positions in industry and hospitals. Michael received a B.S. in Industrial Engineering from Lehigh University and a Masters degree in Hospital and Health Services Administration with distinction from the Graduate School of Business at Cornell University. He is a Certified Valuation Analyst in the National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts.
Craig Paxton, Ph.D.
Craig Paxton is a Chief Statistician and founder of MD Ranger, Inc. Craig provides statistical analysis and database development expertise for MD Ranger. He is also a principal in Cattaneo & Stroud, Inc. specializing in health care market demand analysis, cost effectiveness analysis, software development, and forecasting. Craig has also worked for McKesson Corporation, and he served six years as senior economist at Kaiser Permanente. Craig received his Ph.D. in economics from Northwestern University in 1987, and holds a B.S. from Santa Clara University.
